The Learning Log provides individuals with a model for a Self-managed Record of Achievement and a Development Plan. The Learning Log was developed and is supported by the Crine Network Education & Training Group and is a key component of the Industry and Personal Development Toolkit available from OPITO.

The world of work is changing fast. Organisations are now aiming to be more flexible and to draw on talents from people as and when required. Organisations in the Oil and Gas Industry are now flatter, delayered and often outsource "non-core" activities. As a result traditional career paths have been disrupted with employees, like you, facing more frequent job changes than would have been typical in the past. In this sort of employment situation it is increasingly important that you take responsibility for managing your own career and personal development. It is also very important, for both the industry and individual members of the workforce that you assemble a transportable record of your capabilities and achievements that you can maintain through different employment situations. This document, "The Learning Log", is intended to help you with that task of managing your own career and maintaining a record of your achievements. Whilst this "Learning Log" can be used as a stand alone document most people might benefit from using the Institute of Petroleum "Lifetime Learning Workbook" which provides several useful exercises as an aid to Self Assessment, Objective Setting, Action Planning and Reviewing Progress.
